Brazilian enterprise Light has stated that it will install sensors in the underground to prevent explosions in street manholes. The sensors will be deployed later this year, in 720 places, considered more sensitive. In 2014 four, thousand others belonging to the company will be installed.
The new monitoring, according to Light, will be able to detect problems in real time. This year, at least eight manholes exploded in different parts of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
In June, an American couple got burned because the explosion of such holes in a street in Copacabana, in Rio's South Zone. This news, announced by G1, was a timid decision to deploy IT components in the urban place as a means to help city live.
